Endeavour Mining Exploration is deploying exploration programs through Western Africa. Exploration campaigns are planned based on the Group’s objectives. The Mineral Exploration Manager will drive the planning, implementation and overall management of various field activities and will also be responsible for organizing contractors, mentoring junior staff and ensuring that there are effective controls across the exploration activities. Additionally, the incumbent will provide technical direction to a team of staff and must have the ability to identify all on-site exploration requirements and effectively manage a challenging drilling program as well as overseeing the development of the exploration camps, including a variety of supply and logistic requirements.

Key responsibilities
Exploration programs
- Manage company’s exploration interests and exploration programs under his responsibility
- Manage project generation studies and prioritizing targets from his work for exploration in the short, medium and long terms
- Ensure that adequate resources are allocated to this process to enable new opportunities to be identified and progressed.
- Make recommendations to management derived from property appraisals
- Maintain awareness of mining, metallurgical, land access, security and country risk issues that may impact on valuations and project risks safety needs to be added here somewhere • Initiate and organize ore exploration projects to define ore reserves.
- Oversee management of the site core logging and sampling facilities and ensure that QA/QC is maintained to best practices and company standards.
- Refine targets generated from generative studies on a regular basis to maximize effectiveness.
- Provide leadership and supervision for continual improvement of policies and procedures.
People Management
- Ensure efficient management to meet scope, time and budget.
- Prepare annual budget and any forecast based on the results of exploration and Group’s objectives
- Provide organizational and logistical direction to ensure adequate resources are in place • Ensure human resources planning is up to date and in line with budget
- Ensure that the geology staff is trained and capable of carrying out their duties • Ensure there are training and development plans for each employee
- Ensure all performance review are conducted within the allotted time
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members. Reporting
- Report results on regular basis to the Senior VP Exploration.
Position requirements
- Training in mobile apps and hardware including GPS and external data collectors.
- At least 12 years’ experience working within gold mining / exploration industry
- Geologic field experience in mineral exploration • Demonstrated skills in project/business management
- Ability to assess exploration information, recognize the economic significance of that data and any deficiencies that may be present
- Strong sense of commercial drivers and sound business acumen as well as strong communication, mentoring, training, and negotiation skills
- A teamwork attitude – must can develop and maintaining effective working relationships across a broad cross-section of the company’s exploration personnel, contractors, consultants, industry bodies, researchers and government agencies
- Broad understanding of mining, metallurgical, environmental, land access, community relations, commercial and country risk issues
- Fluency in both English and French (speaking and writing)
- Tertiary qualification in Geology
- Training in industry standard sampling and quality control (QAQC) procedures.
- Training in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL.
- Training in geographic information systems (GIS) software and 3D modelling like QGIS, Surpac, Geosoft + Target, ArcGIS, Surpac and MapInfo+Discover.
