Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting and is responsible of accounting of Capex projects especially, intercompany and intracompany balances, statutory account preparation assistance, tax returns, regulatory accounting compliances, BS accounts reconciliations and providing technical expertise on special projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Compliance

o    Ensure that all accounting procedures are adhered to and that they comply with all relevant government and statutory Acts and Regulations
o    Ensure compliance to local and international accounting laws and legislative boundaries
o    Follow Endeavour’s expenditure approval matrix for all operating and capital accounting procedures
o    Report any breaches in compliance particularly with all statutory requirements and company standards
o    Ensure all Balance Sheet Accounts are fully reconciled on a monthly basis

  • Oversee and manage the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly management reports and presentations as requested
  • Ensure the SYSCOAHADA accounts and IFRS are reconciled
  • Accounting

o    Ensure Capex projects are up to date monthly and appropriately accounted for
o    Work with HOD`s to manage Capex projects and to prevent any overspend from Budget
o    Manage the Accounting team and apply local accounting practices and legislation to ensure the company complies with its statutory requirements when direct report on break.
o    Oversee and prepare statutory accounts in accordance with corporate and local requirements.
o    Prepare withholding and VAT tax returns 
o    Manage payments and payment approvals according to the Group Financial Delegation Of Authorities
o    Manage intercompany flows and ensure proper supporting documentation is circulated
o    Assist Accounts payable to resolve invoice and/or payment issues
o    Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of trial balances in compliance with Endeavour accounting policies, and the subsequent translation into USD
o    Support the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly management reports 
o    Supports the financial reporting process and other asset protection including documentation of process, evidence of reviews and ability to re-perform the review process

  • Tax management

o    Assist the Tax and Compliance Manager prepare required tax returns
o    Ensure tax return data accuracy
o    Ensure that all local financial and fiscal requirements are prepared on a monthly basis and send to the tax and compliance Manager for checking

  •  External audit management

o    Assist external auditors in conduct of annual financial audits
o    Perform any other tasks assigned by the hierarchy within his/her responsibilities.

Position requirements

  • Undergraduate qualification in accounting
  • Master’s in finance or in Accounting
  • A Professional qualification in the field of Accounting/ Internal Auditing would be an advantage or working towards Accounting Certification
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the field of Accounting/Finance, Auditing 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ Experience in the Mining Industry is a must 
  • Additional Experience in cost or Management Accounting would also be advantageous
  • Knowledge of ERP such as SAP, Oracle or SUN is a must
  • Knowledge of French West Africa regulations, Contract law, Central Bank Regulation, an advantage
  • Experience in a listed company requirement
  • Project Management Skills 
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office including Spreadsheet Applications (MS Excel)
  • Good overall computer skills
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams and obtain results
  • Ability to engage with colleague HODs and achieve results
  • Ability to retain confidentiality on all matters
  • Willing to work long hours
  • Proficient in English/Fluent in French.
