The role
The primary purpose and responsibilities of the Group Reporting Manager include Group accounting and consolidation function as well as external reporting and regulatory filings (listed on TSX/LSE).
Level of studies
- A degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Qualified accountant (preferably a financial accounting focused qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA) preferably with a Big-6 firm.

Key responsibilities
Financial reporting:
- Managing and overseeing the consolidation and group financial close process including the review of key consolidation reconciliations.
- Preparation and review of the monthly management reporting package.
- Preparation and review of the quarterly external reporting package including the MD&A and FS including providing support to Investor Relations team in respect of the press release and presentation materials.
- Review of deferred tax calculations and preparation of tax rate reconciliation on a group level.
- Responsible for the preparation and review of the key quarterly group reviews including impairment indicator assessment, going concern assessment, litigation update, uncertain tax position.
- Preparation and review of the annual external reporting package including the Prelims, MDA, and FS.
- Overall project management and review of the Annual Report including the preparation of the financial sections.
- Ensuring the timely filing of financial information as required by the regulators.
- Development, implementation and ongoing review of group accounting policies in accordance with IFRS and the provision of technical accounting guidance to operations, executive management and board.
- Managing and overseeing the training and development of accounting staff across the group in respect of accounting and reporting related developments.
- Managing the annual Syscohada stand alone audit requirements.
- Provide support and information feeding into the Annual Sustainability Report, Economic Contribution Report and Annual Information Form and Management Information Circular
- Preparation of Board material relating to the financial reporting area when required.
- Managing external audit deliverables associated with Financial Statements and MDA.
- Responsible for working with ERP team to maintain a chart of accounts as required to feed into financials, and to add cost centers as required.
- Support around corporate development activities including mergers and acquisitions.
Managerial and general:
- Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws including: hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing of work; assessing performance and disciplining of employees.
- Supervision of a total team of five comprising: 3 Regional controllers, 1 Consolidation Specialist; and 1 SysCohada Manager.
- Ensuring the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective control environment.
- Ensuring the adherence to the Company’s policies including all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Support around corporate development activities including mergers and acquisitions.
Position requirements
- Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Excel with ability to analyze bulk data using data analysis tools.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience in Workiva.
- Prior experience in consolidation system implementations.
- ERP experience (experience in Pronto and/or SUNEAM will be an advantage).
- Open to travel to West-Africa.
