Under the supervision of the Senior Geologist, the Mining Geologist will provide geological data, collate them, and then assist in short- and medium-term production planning. He/She will participate in the training and supervision of supervising Geologists Supervisors, Geologists Technician and Ore Controllers.

The role

Under the supervision of the Senior Geologist, the Mining Geologist will provide geological data, collate them, and then assist in short- and medium-term production planning. He/She will participate in the training and supervision of supervising Geologists Supervisors, Geologists Technician and Ore Controllers.

Level of studies

Bachelor’s Degree with post graduate qualification in Geology, Geologic Engineering, or an equivalent.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct Geologist Supervisors, Geologist Technician and ore controllers involved in all mining production and quality control activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to grade control and mining geology procedures.
  • Coordinate quality control and ore tracking database entry.
  • Provide daily excavation plans to planners.
  • Produce written reports.
  • Proactively participate in site safety.
  • Monitors geology-related costs and implements approved recommendations to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Flag risk and/or opportunity areas related to the Mine to Mill operations.
  • Participate to the weekly and end of month reconciliation work
  • Deputize for the Senior Mining Geologist in his absence.

Position requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar Mine Geology based roles within mines operations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages, Access, and any of 3D software’s such as Surpac, Orepro3D, Ore blend tool, etc…..
  • Good English in both writing and speaking skill.
  • Hold valid light vehicles driving license.
  • Strong leader capable to drive team to excellence.
  • Strong in geotechnical and geological mapping skills.
  • Able to speak up and voice his view in a multidiscipline environment.
  • Must have strong communication skills in French, ability to speak and write in English.
  • Critical thinking skills.
