The Process Plant Manager will lead and manage the Processing Department including all metallurgical, fixed plant, site power generation and tailings disposal activities to achieve operational goals and targets. The role will provide leadership and oversight to Processing & Gold Room Operations, Metallurgy, Electrical Generation and Maintenance teams. In addition, the incumbent will lead the development of the Processing Department through continuous improvement and optimization of mill processes while collaborating with key stakeholders and ensuring safety and environmental stewardship of all the teams and related personnel. The Process Manager will assume the responsibilities of the Responsible Tailings Engineer as per the EDV Group Tailings Management Standard.

The Sabodala Massawa Process Department has direct responsibility for two processing facilities (4.6 MTPA Whole Ore Leach Plant and 1.2 MTPA flotation and BIOX Sulphur Treatment Plant), site power generation (9 x 6 MW generators, 38 MW PV solar farm with 16 MWhr BESS) and related site power reticulation, water and TSF infrastructure, site assay lab capable of full range of determination required for plant, grade control and exploration, and operations and maintenance to support these facilities.
Key responsibilities
Department Leadership :
- Act as a leader in all areas by assisting, planning, developing, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring activities to optimize the operation of the processing plant and tailings storage facilities, while evaluating the economic implications ;
- Acting as a change leader, always looking for ways to improve how we operate in an effective and efficient manner ;
- Ensure safe and efficient processing of material in accordance with statutory obligations ;
- Ensure departmental emergency preparedness is up to date, drilled and coordinated with the site ER teams ;
- Ensure that all activities are done according to budget and forecasts ;
- Plan, organise and control the high-level activities related to their department ;
- Oversee all people related activities always behaving in a manner consistent with company values and expected behaviours ;
- Keep necessary records of all aspects related to their department and contractual activities ;
- Ensure gold security remains front of mind for departmental leaders and supervisors, working with the site Security Department ;
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain plant compliance and standardization ;
- Manage relationships and contractual requirements with contractors and service providers.
Cost :
- Carries out duties of managing all activities in the most cost-effective manner possible to deliver required gold production ;
- Accountable for the preparation of the processing budget and on delivery (costs and time) ;
- Liaise with the procurement team to source and manage 3rd party service providers to reduce costs ;
- Monitor KPI and follow through with action plans ;
- Helps others in identifying initiatives in increasing costs efficiencies.
Planning :
- Use best practices in mineral processing and coordinate production with the Mine Manager and others ;
- Plans work according to business requirements and guides all activities accordingly ;
- Keep focus on longer term objectives while achieving shorter goals ;
- Orchestrate and monitor activities to achieve business expectations ;
- Provide relevant professional input into the site Life of Mine (LOM) plan including long term TSF lift schedule and management.
People & Team Management :
- Develop and encourage a team approach with shared objectives ;
- Review and communicate individual and team performances in daily, weekly, monthly team meetings ;
- Oversee development and execution of people progression & succession plans ;
- Create and maintain strong relationship with all internal and external stakeholders (government, agencies, financial, etc.).
Policy, Procedure and Process Development :
- Ensures departmental procedures and administrative controls are aligned with Endeavour Policies and Standards ;
- Ensures active compliance monitoring and enforcement of Endeavour Standards, Policies, and Administrative Controls ;
- Recommends improvements to the business that may lead to safer, more productive operation with better gold production.
Innovation and Improvement :
- Actively participate in the continual review of processing plant operations and make recommendations as required ;
- Identifies, investigates, and implements improvements to all operations to maximize safe and efficient gold production at the lowest possible costs.
Position requirements
- Degree in metallurgy or process engineering preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of mineral processing experience, gold extraction experience is strongly.
- Experience as an expat in a supervisory role managing a team in a developing country (preferably Africa).
- Experience working with multi-national workforce in remote work locations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English, French is an asset to effectively interact with national employees.
- Excellent leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and empower teams.
- Ability to manage and develop staff.
- An extensive knowledge of current gold processing, metallurgical including flotation and refractory treatment, maintenance practices and operation of site power generation
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated experience operating and managing TSF in accordance with international best practice including capital works.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in MS Office is required.
- Knowledge of business management principles (budgeting, forecasting, human resources).
