Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer will be responsible for providing expertise focused on reliability, condition monitoring, improvement strategies and tactics that enable cost effective, timely and safe maintenance to occur, and ensuring assets are consistently available to meet the operational plan requirements.

The role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer will be responsible for providing expertise focused on reliability, condition monitoring, improvement strategies and tactics that enable cost effective, timely and safe maintenance to occur, and ensuring assets are consistently available to meet the operational plan requirements.

Level of studies

Minimum Diploma, Certificate in Maintenance and Reliability

Key skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
  • A Reputation for integrity and ethics.
  • French language skills desired and essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Using data and reliability principles to focus improvement effort in obtaining optimal availability of the equipment.
  • Build reports and delver presentations to management.
  • Undertake reliability performance evaluations, predictions and standardised reporting.
  • Actively participate in various safety activities.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Clearly write reports detailing work performed and problems found.
  • Work with the Maintenance Superintendent to establish an operating budget.
  • Ensure all charges remain within budget, report on cost variances and identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Plan, approve and monitor any expenditure under your authority.
  • Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Consistently maintain a high quality of work within the maintenance team.
  • Provide input regarding improvement opportunities and areas of risk.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (including Company Policy, Standards, and Procedures) through training and development of staff and promoting by example.

​​Position requirements

  • Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance background
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Reliability
  • Minimum 3 years in Condition Based monitoring.
  • Set up and implement monitoring and analysis of reporting systems and performance
  • Experience in Asset Management Risk Reduction / Elimination programs such as RCA and FMEA systems.
  • Experience within the mining sector in Africa preferred.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and power point
