• Ensure the back-to-back of the SP Manager • Support and stand for the manager for all the stakeholders engagement activities • Support the SP Manager in directing the department staff and contractors in daily operations. • Inspect projects in progress and verify their completion to ensure quality of work. • Provide administrative and technical direction to staff. • Ensure the good implementing of policies and procedures. • Assure program effectiveness (i.e. audits, development and tracking of key performance indicators) with the overall goal of reducing social risk to the mine operations.

Key responsibilities

Program & Policies Implementation and Monitoring

  • Develop, plan, and direct the work plan for projects and responsibilities.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and coordinate work with other departments as required.
  • Oversee the Implementation and monitoring of Social Performance programs and activities in accordance with existing policies and procedures 
  • Oversee the consistent application of programs, policies and procedures, in accordance with EDV business objectives to achieve community acceptance. 

   Stakeholder Engagement & Grievances Management 

  • Ensure that communities are proactively engaged to voice issues, concerns, and expectations in a consultative and productive manner, with minimal disruption operations.
  • Liaise with local, regional, and traditional authorities to align with Social Performance needs and requirements.
  •  Identify areas for improvement to create harmonious relationships between EDV and community stakeholders.
  • Attend to invitations made by community stakeholders and participate in fruitful diagnostic meetings.
  • Support the Stakeholder Engagement in charge to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with relevant community stakeholders and local NGOs to enable smooth implementation and operation of community programs.
  • Assist the Grievances Management Senor supervisor in the grievance management process.
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies, implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations, and investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.

 Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration

  • Coordinate with the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) Senior Supervisor on mitigation-driven program implementation especially Resettlement Action & Livelihood restoration Plans.
  • Ensure in collaboration with the SP Manager and the Senior Supervisor RAP that policies and procedures are followed when drafting and implementing a RAP & LRP.

  Team Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the Social Performance senior supervisors and coordinators.
  • Provide support, coaching and training to Social Performance teams to embed Social Performances best practices.

Position requirements

  • Master or Engineer degree
  • Specialization in social sciences/humanities, Agronomy, projects management is a major asset
  • Extensive previous experience working within a development/social performance role in mining industries or Development sectors
  • Previous experience in land access and displacement action planning according to World Bank/IFC standards is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in securing both temporary and permanent access to land resources for the purposes of major infrastructure development.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large and diverse teams across remote locations.
  • Experience in the management of grievances and supporting systems.
  • Experience in developing and executing social investment and community development projects within the extractive or developmental sector.
  • Experience in managing large budgets and complex schedules.
