He is also expected to have expertise in supporting PAPs, agricultural organizations/groups, women and young people in the implementation and monitoring of income generating activities.

The role

Reporting to the SP Superintendent and working in collaboration with the site-based SP Manager, the SP will support implementation of the community development projects, the resettlement action plan (RAP) and Livelihood Restoration Programs and training-up team members. He is also expected to have expertise in supporting PAPs, agricultural organizations/groups, women and young people in the implementation and monitoring of income generating activities.

Level of studies

BAC + 3 in Agronomy, breeding, projects management or a relevant discipline, preferred.

Key responsibilities

Social performance management system :

  • Ensure the implementation of EDV's social performance policies and standards by the social performance team.
  • Coach and build the capacity of team members to implement the social performance management system.
  • Monitor the progress of the implementation of the social performance management system especially on compensation, Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM), grievance and finds chance and provide corrective actions if necessary.

Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of project activitie :

  • Propose and develop technical approaches to the implementation of activities in intervention of the program, consistent with the project document and in collaboration and close coordination with the technical coordination.
  • Ensure adequate and continuous planning of activities in collaboration with technical coordination and implementing partners.
  • Support the team and technical partners for the implementation of activities.
  • Contribute to the development of any technical document related to the project.

Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of project activities :

  • Ensure under the superintendent and Manager SP that policies and procedures are followed when implementing a compensation, land acquisition and resettlement.
  • Work with SP team members and external consultants on resettlement action & livelihood restoration plans, ensuring alignment with community development; Local Mining Development Plan

Leadership Skills :

  • Supervise the department when the MS Manager/Superintendent is on leave and provide support when the MS Manager/Superintendent is on site, including developing, leading, participating in and/or evaluating: Grievance management, Plans and projects for stakeholder engagement, community development, ASM, human rights management, and local procurement and employment.
  • Provide feedback on stakeholder engagement plan, and train and mentor staff as necessary for implementation.

Position requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience at role level.
  • Previous experience in managing the implementation of community development projects;
  • Experience in the mining industry or extractive sector, preferred;
  • Experience in managing internal teams and consultants, directly, required.
  • Strong knowledge, expertise, and understanding of the application and implementation of IFC Performance Standards, required;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively scale and apply strategies to local environments and different cultures;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal and external stakeholders;
